Poland s favorite director, Juliusz Machulski (Sexmission; Kingsize; Vabank), takes a satiric bite out of show business with this entertaining spoof of the film industry. No industry insider is spared as the film mercilessly targets crooked producers, untalented starlets, and shallow TV talk-show hosts. The veteran filmmaker even takes a swipe at current Polish directors who mimic Hollywood action blockbusters. The wayward tale involves a mob boss who wants to finance a major movie production for his bimbo girlfriend and hires an uncompromising film critic to write it. When the critic who is famous for criticizing popular movies and slamming money-grubbing producers--writes a script as a true cineaste, the gangster dumps it and forces him to write a commercial crowd-pleaser.
